HI Skim-ers,

While I am asking about Skim features (and using it a lot for end of semester grading), is there a way to reprogram the keyboard shortcuts? I love to jump between highlighting, striking out text, adding a text note and keyboard shortcuts are, of course, the best way to speed this up, even when I do need the mouse/keypad to place the markup. I am trying to learn that control-command-1 is text note and control-command-5 is highlight…or wait, was it control-command-6 is highlight and control-command-5 is underline? (-:

You get the point.

Mnemonic are powerful queues for our brains and it would be fabulous to mimic those use in other settings, for example, dare I suggest, Preview? Does Skim allow remapping of the keyboard shortcuts to replicate something more intuitive?

Thanks,
Rob

If you go to the Keyboard preferences in OS X's System Preferences app,
there is a Shortcuts tab. This will show you a list on the left side of the
Keyboard preference. The last item should be "App shortcuts". Hit the plus
on the right-hand side, and select "Skim". Enter the menu title exactly as
it appears in Skim's menu. Any keyboard shortcut you enter will override
the Skim default shortcut. That works for any application by the way.

the question then is: which shortcuts? The point is they're already taken.

BTW, when you're in note tool mode there are also some (more) intuitive single letter shortcuts to switch between them. See the Wiki for details.

If you are in the tool-mode (cmd+5) you can simply press h for highlight, u
for underline, c for circle, etc.
Unfortunately there is no one letter way of going back and forth between
text selection mode and notes.

I am also using BetterTouchTool where I have assigned each corner of my
trackpad to a different tool.
