[Skim-app-users] Skim is awesome / a few ideas

I have been looking around for a while for an app that does exactly
what Skim does with no success, so I am very excited to see this! So
far, I am very impressed.

I have a few ideas that I think would be nice:

1. I guess this is more a suggestion for Bibdesk than for Skim, but
It would be nice if in Bibdesk, there was a place in the preferences
to choose your viewer of choice for all Bibdesk pdfs. I don't want
to change Skim to be the default app to open pdfs on my machine - I
only want to use Skim for my academic articles I have in Bibdesk, and
it would be really nice if I could open them in Skim just by double
clicking from within Bibdesk (without them opening up in Preview).
(A good example of this is in Fugu, where you can specify the text
editor you want Fugu to open your text files with).

2. This may not be possible - I'm not too familiar with all the
possibities of the pdf format: It would be cool if it were possible
to paste pdf/other image format clips into the notes. Then with a
program like LaTeXiT, you could make notes with formulas, etc. This
would be even more cool if it could be made to work with linkback.

Anyways, just a few ideas. Thanks for the great app.

We had one feature request for this in BibDesk, but I'd prefer not to
add a preference for it. Instead, use the context menu to open the
linked file with your application of choice (works in the main table
and editor window, at least).

This is already possible with the "Anchored Note" annotation. You can
drag (or paste?) an image into the image well (rounded square on the
upper left). It also accepts rich text.
