Thanks so much for the new version with the workaround, Christiaan! Love
your work.

For those interested in the SkimNotes framework or tools, I'd like to say
that there is a new version 1.3.4 released. It can be downloaded from the
Skim web page. This version mainly adds compatibility with newer Xcode
versions.

Subject: [Skim-app-users] Converting URL fields
To: For general discussion about using Skim
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
Hi, all,
Using BibDesk 1.6.5 (3713) on OS X 10.10.5: opening a .bib file that has
been created on 10.6.8, I get an alert telling me that the file contains
fields that are deprecated, and can be converted. I click the ?Verify?
button, and get a window with a ?convert? button. Clicking that goes
through some machinations and completes.
This happens every time I open the file; and today, I read the associated
help page. It appears that the ?convert? operation changes the file, but I
did not realize this, because the ?dirty file? button on the .bib window is
not set. I saved the file this time, and the file can now be opened with
no alert.
Should that red button be ?set? to indicate that saving is warranted?
Thanks!
Justin

I have been running a nightly build for a couple of weeks now, and find
that when I quit and restart Bibdesk, I get a cranky message from the OS
telling me (correctly) that I have a security setting disallowing the
running of unsigned apps from the app store.
Q1: is the nightly build (I think this one is 3725) signed? Is the above
expected?
Q2: a secondary problem is that I cannot restart this version of BibDesk,
but if it?s running when I restart my system, it comes up w/o problems. I
assume this is an Apple issue, but thought checking here first might
clarify it for me.
Thanks!

Hi,
I?m running Skim Version 1.4.16 (90) on Mac OS X Version 10.11.2 (15C50).
I wonder whether anyone else has seen this behaviour: Skim is using a
huge amount of RAM. According to Activity Monitor, Skim is using
Skim | 13.42 GB | 7.49 GB | 11 | 283
in the notation
App | Memory | Compressed Memory | Threads | Ports
In fact, the system ran out of application memory yesterday and I think
it was due to Skim. (It was one of two apps which were not responding.)
I?ve gone back to 1.4.15 (89) for now.
Cheers,
Jos?
BTW, it does seem like more people are seeing this. Moreover, it is also
seen in Preview. That means, as I would expect if it?s really there, that
it?s a bug in PDFKit in ElCap (one of many serious bugs, unfortunately).
I?ve reported this to Apple, but given how (non) responsive they are on the
even more obvious and visible (and simpler to fix!) bugs, I don?t expect
them to fix this before 10.12.

Hey there! Happy New Year!
MacBookPro9,1; El Capitan OS X 10.11.2 (15C50)
Why does skim 1.4.16 insist on calling home via helpd,
even when skim is not running?
Is there any way I can turn this so called feature off,
apart from blocking it entirely with Little Snitch?
Thanks,
__outer

We don?t do that. So it must be part of the system, and should be true for
about any Cocoa app (or at least one with a help book).
